Everyone was in attendance today for our second pupil council meeting!
Firstly, Mrs Thomson asked us to start thinking about ideas for planning Children In Need Day. We will discuss our ideas at our next meeting.
Next we discussed the use of homework at Millbank Primary School. Our task before our next meeting is to ask our classmates what they think of homework and note down our classmates opinions. Some of our older pupil council reps will buddy up with the younger reps to help them gather this information in their class.
Lastly we worked in groups to create mind-maps of all the skills we might need to use as a pupil council rep. We came up with lots of skills, such as, listening, writing, optimism, co-operation, perseverance, responsibility, artistic skills, presenting, positivity, communication, reading and showing respect to others.
We are looking forward to our next meeting where we can share ideas and plan Children In Need Day, as well as discuss school pupils’ opinions on homework.
It’s been a short week but we have been working hard. We have had a big focus on using our maths skills to tackle word problems using the RUCSAC method. We also created posters to help us remember the method as well as how to add and subtract using formal methods.
It was great to see all those that made it to the open afternoon yesterday to look at our work.
Huge thank you to everyone who donated things for our raffle to raise money to help those going on the P7 trip, we really appreciate it!
Just a little reminder to please bring back the parents evening and harvest trip slips ASAP. Thanks!
Have a good weekend!
Today P1 used chromebooks, iPads and laptops to play various games to reinforce the knowledge and skills they have been learning. The games focused on counting and ordering numbers.
P6/7M worked on their leadership skills by confidently explaining to their P1 buddies how to play the games and use the technology. They were very patient and supportive and were excellent roll models for the P1s – well done!
We now have our marvellous new mural brightening up the school playground!
Last session we ran a competition for our pupils to design a mural for our infant playground. Alexander, Caitlyn, Anita, Zach, Dakota and Daisy (not pictured as she is now at the academy) created bright, colourful and interesting designs that were selected to be made into the mural. As you can see above they have turned out really well!
Huge thanks to local joiner Dougie Elliot (pictured) who supplied the boards and fitted them free of charge. Artist Hannah Jakobsen (also pictured) did a wonderful job of transferring the pupils’ pictures to the board – thank you very much!
P5 have been busy with Maths Week. They have enjoyed working in groups, pairs and trios on various different maths station challenges. They also had the opportunity to investigate some maths problems outside using natural resources.
Here are some of our hardworking and successful learners that have managed to earn a Star of the Week certificate this week!
Well done everyone!

Well done everyone!
Primary 6 have been designing some fantastic posters in groups to present to our fellow classmates this week. We discussed what a successful poster would look like and decided our posters should:
- Be eye-catching
- Tell our reader information
- Have a purpose or point
The purpose of our posters was to share information about different oceans, such as, the Pacific, Atlantic or Arctic ocean. Every group worked hard and produced some brilliant posters which shared lots of facts and information. As you can see from the pictures, our posters were very eye-catching! We were an excellent audience and everyone managed to stand up and speak about their poster. Miss Young was very impressed! Unfortunately we did not manage to get a photo of every group, but here are some pictures from our group presentations today.
