P6 had a class vote in November and decided we would make a Christmas tree out of plastic bottles this year. As we learned about plastic pollution in our oceans topic, we thought it would be nice to make a tree where we can recycle the bottles after Christmas.

We painted the bottles green and secured them to layers of cardboard with holes cut out for the bottle necks. We secured the stem of the tree in a cardboard box and a few helpers learned how to wrap a gift by wrapping the boxes under the tree. We also attached some tinsel and bobbles which will be reused next year.

We also had a design challenge in class to create a topper for the tree. There were many fantastic entries and after a class vote, we chose a favourite to be placed on our class tree!

I am very proud of P6 and their fantastic designs. It is great to have such a creative class who care about the environment also.

Merry Christmas to everyone from P6 and Miss Young!
